Hello! I am Eva de Vries, a passionate freelance multimedia journalist from the Netherlands based in East Africa. I produce articles, photo series, radio reports and videos about diverse topics from human rights to entrepreneurship and from conflicts to climate change. I work for Dutch and Belgian media (such as Knack Magazine, VPRO Bureau Buitenland and Nieuwe Revu) and English language media (such as Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera and Sydney Morning Herald).
Before moving to Kenya in March 2016, I worked as a project coordinator, producer and editor for different media organisations in the Netherlands: Movies that Matter, Lokaalmondiaal and Vice Versa Magazine. The last ten years, I have travelled, studied and worked in sixteen African countries: South Africa, Lesotho, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Ghana, Togo, Egypt, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda.
I have been on maternity leave from June until November 2018 but now I am available again for media & communication assignments throughout (East) Africa. Also, I am available for storytelling, production and training assignments.
